Of course it's shutting down, it's not the fucking 70s anymore. People now have more choices and choose not to eat rancid old stodge. Not sure that's the three stooges' fault.

Elondoners have moved to suburbs and the pie and mash shops have followed sign of the times nothing to to do with West Ham, if anything small Traders in Stratford have been revived.

Re: Nathans
I never liked the fact Nathan’s served the mash using an ice cream scoop, Duncan’s was much better

**wince***

How about 'guys' used to include, or even exclusively reference, women?

Re: Nathans
It’s likely that Nathan’s would have closed irrespective of where WHU played. I don’t think that the loss of custom for twenty home games a year changed anything other than possibly the timing.

Yeh, agree with that. Always used to use Duncans.
Robins ave always been good over the years as well and luckily still going.

jfk 9:44
Yep, we'd always just say 'you going over there?" or 'you going West Ham?"

'Bods' is bad, I agree, but look on the bright side. He could have said, 'folk' instead, which is even cuntier.

Perhaps a yellow card for 'bods' and bullet in the head for 'folk' would be appropriate punishments.

JFK - I’m pretty much done with it all now and hand on heart I really don’t care if they go down, it’s no reflection on me, I’ve given enough to this club over the years for my loyalty to be questioned. At least at UP it still felt like my club, even with all the dissapointments.

Quite right. West Ham fans NEVER called the ground the Boleyn Ground. Yes, we knew that was the official name, but, in conversation, it was always Upton Park.

As far as I can remember it was always Upton Park for the press, too, until they started getting all smartie-pants in the final season.

Re: Nathans
Smartypants agree mate.
Nice to hear someone else to say"Upton Park" with reference to our ground of late.
This might start a few rows on here but from the late 70"s through the decades of going to nome games. It was always are you going "football",or along the lines of " Going Over The Hammers"......
Not one of us ever said "The Boleyn" that was another load of spin made up by the CUNTS in my opinion.
I'm well aware of the relevance but none of my lot ever said meet you in the west side lower Long Bar 0ver The Boleyn.

Re: Nathans
I miss Upton Park and wish we’d stayed, but I’m pretty certain we’d still be moaning about it if we had, for me the match day experience was on the wain and feeling increasingly hollow from about 2006 onwards. The greengate, castle, village, duke etc were all going regardless of the move so maybe for most of us it’s just an age thing, as well as watching shit football.

People who use words like "bods" should fuck off.

Re: Nathans
Hardly suprising.
Nathan's wernt the best by a long chalk,Duncombes down Plashet Grove was the best prior to Duncan's in Green Street(same people).
I hate the demise of the area surrounding Upton Park but there was only one way it was going before we fucked off to Stratford.

bods from the likes of Borehamwood should stick to local matters

Re: Nathans
The noted eel & pie house in Leytonstone is very good, certainly better than Nathan’s in my humble opinion. I never thought Nathan’s was all that. Much preferred Duncan’s opposite UP station.
